Cross training - its a mental thing
As triathletes, we are constantly cross training in the strict sense of the word - swim, bike and run. But every now and again it's useful to step outside of those three disciplines for a mental break. Maybe go on a long hike, try some kayaking or paddle boarding, or in my case - rowing. It's as much about mental relief as taking on a fresh challenge. Ideal times to take on a new activity are while you are on vacation, or after a very tough race, or maybe at the end of your racing season. Here's some pics from my recent rowing outing in Victoria, British Columbia.
