Campers go Crazy, kick-off 2019 season
Triathletes from Houston, Lake Jackson, Port Aransas and Thibodeaux, Louisiana, descended on Katy, TX, for the second annual Tri Skills Camp. This was an ideal kick-off for the season, perfect for beginners, age groupers and improvers. It included a full day of swim, bike and run coaching, plus bike care and stretching. Last year's campers, including complete beginners, went on to podium finishes in local sprint tri's while others completed their first 70.3 distance races.
Enthusiasm was running rampant at the swim pool, one particular athlete clocked 1.07 for a 100 repeat - that is moving! Well done Paul Behar. The fun continued through the bike ride and tire changing practice with Yoshi from HandleBar Cyclery. Her knowledge and enthusiasm for cycling is infectious. After a 3 mile run, the camp finished with a stretching session, led by Ariel Harlev of e-motion sports therapy, who always surprises with his insights into releasing all the knots, aches and pains. A camp photo by the lake at Peckham Park is now a tradition to close the camp. See you for more camping next year, or at one of the local swim clinics in Houston this Spring and Fall.
